Preferred Provider Organizations

A type of managed health care plan and service delivery arrangement which offers people who are insured access to providers (hospitals, nursing facilities and physicians) affiliated with the plan who have agreed to provide services at reduced costs in exchange for their preferred provider status. Plan members may be able to select providers outside the network, but have a higher deductible and higher co-payments when they do so.
