Eating establishments that offer the cuisine of Greece which features specialties such as avgolemono soup (egg and lemon soup), moussaka (lamb and eggplant casserole), pastichio (pasta and meat), saganaki (fried cheese), tyropita (cheese turnovers), spanikopeta (spinach and feta cheese in phyllo dough), dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), garides (shrimp), souvlaki (lamb shish kebab), stefatho (chunks of lamb with pearl onions), roast lamb, Greek sausage and a wide variety of hot and cold appetizers including taramosalata (red mullet roe), tzatziki (cucumber in yogurt), olives and feta cheese which are often served with fried pita bread. Beverages include Greek wines (Domestica and retsina). Desserts such as baklava are served with Greek coffee. Many Greek restaurants offer mezethes, a combination plate which features a wide variety of different specialties including hot and cold appetizers, entrees and dessert.
