Definition
Organizations that recognize people or programs that have made significant social, cultural, economic, environmental or civic contributions to the community by selecting them as "Mother of the Year", "Senior Citizen of the Year", "Program of the Year" or other honorary title; acknowledge the deeds of people who have distinguished themselves through heroic action; recognize the presence of VIP visitors to the community; or otherwise celebrate individuals who have made a difference. Some recognition awards may involve a monetary component, special access to community events and recreational or cultural facilities and/or other privileges.
