Gay Conversion Therapy Survivors

Individuals who have been willing or unwilling participants in the widely discredited and, in some jurisdictions, illegal practice of gay conversion therapy (also known as "reparative" or "ex-gay" therapy). Using various forms of psychological manipulation, religious interventions and sometimes physical pain to confront same-sex attraction, practitioners falsely claim the ability to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. Their pseudoscientific methods pose serious dangers to clients, especially to minors, who may be forced to undergo them by their parents or legal guardians, potentially contributing to perceptions of familial and societal rejection and sometimes leading to suicide.
