Definition
Programs that help nonprofit organizations, small businesses and other groups understand and use effective techniques for resolving conflicts that arise in the workplace as alternatives to violence or litigation. Included are programs that provide training on conflict resolution techniques, such as negotiation, that help staff resolve an existing dispute or help people settle differences before they reach the stage of becoming a dispute; and those that serve as external mediators in workplace disputes that cannot be resolved internally.
