Voluntary Conservatorship Assistance

Programs that provide assistance for competent but physically infirm individuals who want to designate an individual who will serve as a conservator with responsibility for the conservatee and/or his or her property depending on the conservatee's wishes. Once a petition is filed, the court determines if the petitioner is infirm, the petition is voluntary and the conservator is suitable. Once established, this form of conservatorship remains in force until terminated by judicial determination of incompetency, the death of the conservatee, an order of the Probate Court or the execution of a written termination notice by the conservatee.
