Definition
Programs that are responsible for regulating the use of radiation producing machines that are used in medical and other settings. Included are programs that establish standards for, register and/or inspect equipment such as diagnostic x-ray or ultrasonic imaging devices, microwave or ultrasound diathermy devices, microwave blood warmers or sterilizers, laser coagulators, x-ray or electron accelerators, sunlamps, ultraviolet dental curing devices, microwave ovens, television receivers and monitors, entertainment lasers, industrial x-ray systems, cordless and cellular telephones, industrial RF sealers of plastics and laminates and laser CD players. Electronic product radiation is any ionizing or non-ionizing electromagnetic or particulate radiation; or any sonic, infrasonic, or ultrasonic wave, which is emitted from an electronic product as the result of the operation of an electronic circuit in such a product.
