Definition
Programs that assist women to conceive children by mechanically injecting viable sperm into the vagina or uterus immediately following ovulation. Artificial insemination may involve the use of the woman's partner's sperm, if viable, or donor sperm in situations where the woman's partner is infertile; and may be used in situations where the woman wishes to conceive without having sexual intercourse.
