Definition
A program administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that provides a special monthly allowance that is paid in addition to the regular veteran compensation/pension payment for wartime veterans, surviving spouses and parents of wartime veterans who are permanently housebound by reason of one or more disabilities. This requirement is met when the individual is confined to his or her dwelling and the immediate premises or, if in a hospital or assisted living facility, ward or clinical area, and it is anticipated that the disability or disabilities and current confinement will continue throughout the his or her lifetime.
