Definition
Establishments that breed, care for and market ratites (flightless birds, most commonly emu, ostrich and rhea) whose meat, hide (leather) and feathers have commercial value. Other ratites less commonly raised are the cassowary from Australia and New Guinea, and the kiwi from New Zealand. Some establishments may sell their products directly to the public.
