Definition
Programs that provide information, technical assistance and support regarding the selection, breeding, care and marketing of ratites, flightless birds, most commonly emu, ostrich and rhea, whose meat, hide (leather) and feathers have commercial value. Other ratites less commonly raised are the cassowary from Australia and New Guinea, and the kiwi from New Zealand.
