Definition
Utility payment plans that allow customers to pay in advance for their utility services. Prepay plans are an option for a variety of utilities including electricity, gas, water and telephone but availability for specific utilities may vary by jurisdiction. Continued service depends on customers prepaying for service in a timely manner. If their account balance falls below the disconnection balance, their service may be disconnected with little notice.
