Definition
Programs that protect consumers of goods from fraudulent, deceitful and unfair labeling and packaging practices through enforcement of regulations which require that manufacturers adequately and truthfully label their goods and package them in a way that does not misrepresent the value of their contents. Included are correct net weight of the contents of a package, correct nutritional value and the content of a container if it is a food item, adequate warning for safe use and proper labeling for dangerous household products, and clear disclosure of specified ingredients which went into the manufacture of the item.
