Definition
Programs that inspect homes, commercial properties or other structures, usually at the request of the owner, occupant or an individual who is considering a purchase to obtain a general assessment of the condition and value of the building, to determine the cause and remediation of an identified problem and/or to evaluate the likelihood of future difficulties based on current conditions. Building evaluations deal with a wide variety of problems including cracked foundations, excessive moisture, poor insulation and outdated electrical wiring and plumbing; and the report may contain an estimate of the cost of remediation.
