Land Use Plan Approval

Programs that hold public hearings and go through a formal process of adopting or amending the jurisdiction"™s general plan (variously known as comprehensive, master or official plans) and more specific area plans (also known as neighborhood, community or secondary plans). Prior to approval, public hearings are held by the advisory body, usually the local planning commission. Advance notice of the place and time of hearings must be published in the newspaper and/or posted in the vicinity of the site proposed for change. The general plan must be adopted by resolution by the legislative body of each jurisdiction.
