Pairs Figure Skating Competitions

Figure skating competitions for men and women who skate together as partners and perform many of the same moves seen in single skating, but in unison, and add new elements including overhead lifts, throws, pair spins and jumps. Each couple completes a short program which includes compulsory elements and a free skating program which incorporates an artistic array of side-by-side jumps, spins and footwork sequences as well as lifts and throw jumps. Mirror skating and shadow skating are other elements that may be represented. Included are organizations that sponsor, organize, hold, promote, sell tickets to and publicize the events; provide information about competition schedules; and/or maintain information about current standings.
