Definition
Golf tournaments and matches that feature professional players who are on tour with the Professional Golf Association (PGA), the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), the Senior Professional Golf Association or other sanctioning bodies; combinations of professional and amateur players; or amateur players who are competing for the national championship. Some tournaments are organized as charitable events in which all or a portion of the proceeds are donated. Included are organizations that sponsor, organize, hold, promote, sell tickets to and publicize the events; provide information about tournament schedules; and/or maintain information about current standings.
