Definition
Programs that help nonprofit organizations, small businesses and other groups develop systems and procedures for copying computer files to another medium such as a disk or tape as a means of protection should there be a computer failure. The organization can purchase a special purpose backup utility or can use operating system commands that are available for this purpose. Critical files should be backed up on a regular schedule and one copy should be stored in another location.
