Definition
Programs that help nonprofit organizations, small businesses and other groups conduct an assessment of their needs and determine the basic type of telephone access they want to implement. Options include purchasing on-site PBX telephone equipment which supports auto attendant services, call accounting and management, computer telephony, voicemail, Voice over IP and other features; contracting with their local telephone company's Centrex service (which may offer many of the same features); implementing a dial-up service in which there is a separate line for each telephone; or choosing an outsourcing option in which calls are routed through another organization's telephone system.
