Definition
Conditions in which an individual's ability to comprehend and/or use spoken language develops more slowly than expected based on established norms. Delayed language can occur for a variety of reasons, including socio-economic, medical or environmental factors, often as a result of another developmental disorder, and requires individualized intervention based on the child's unique circumstances.
