Definition
Programs that help nonprofit organizations, small businesses and other groups evaluate their overall capacity to effectively achieve their goals. An organizational performance assessment covers the organization's external relations and image, its performance in achieving its program objectives, its internal functioning and resources and its overall resiliency; and creates a monitoring framework that the organization can use to measure its progress and development over time and determine where resources are most critically needed. If done in a participatory way, the process can itself build organizational capacity.
