Definition
A sleep disorder that is characterized by excessive sleepiness which takes the form of prolonged sleep episodes or daytime sleep episodes that occur almost daily and which interfere with the individual's social, occupational or other areas of functioning. In contrast to narcolepsy, there is no cataplexy, sleep-related hallucinations or sleep paralysis.
