Definition
A common form of food poisoning caused by a bacterium that is found in raw or undercooked chicken or food that has come into contact with raw chicken. The symptoms, which last about a week, include abdominal cramping, bloody diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and fever. The condition is associated with Guillain-Barre syndrome which can cause paralysis.
