Definition
A form of food poisoning that is caused by a bacillus found in raw shellfish, oysters and clams and is characterized by flu-like symptoms, watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, vomiting, fever and chills, and, if ingested by individuals with impaired gastric, liver, kidney or immune function, possibly fatal septicemia.
