Definition
Severe pain and constriction about the heart, (usually radiating from the heart to the left shoulder and down the left arm, to the back or the jaw, or, rarely, from the heart to the abdomen) that is caused by an insufficient supply of blood to the heart. The most common trigger for angina is physical exertion. Other triggers can be emotional stress, extreme cold or heat, alcohol and smoking.
