Sleep Terror Disorder

A disorder that is characterized by repeated episodes of abrupt awakening from sleep which usually begin with a panicky scream. The individual typically displays agitated and perseverative motor movements, a frightened expression, dilated pupils, profuse perspiration, rapid breathing and a quick pulse. The individual is unresponsive to efforts of others to provide comfort and typically is unable to recall the episode in the morning.
