Definition
An acute infectious disease found in Africa, Panama and the northern region of South America that is characterized by sudden onset of fever, chills, headache, backache, generalized muscle pain, prostration, nausea and vomiting followed by jaundice, vomiting and hemorrhages. The agent which causes yellow fever is a mosquito-borne virus of the family Flaviviridae.
