Programs that sponsor projects though which trees and other greenery are planted on public lands such as parks, school grounds, cemeteries, public golf courses, local streets and avenues or nature trails, where they beautify the environment and can be enjoyed by community residents. Many programs enlist volunteers in their tree planting projects and trees are often obtained at reduced or no cost from local plant/tree banks, programs that collect donated live Christmas trees after the holidays, people who wish to donate a commemorative tree in memory of a loved one and other similar sources.
