Definition
A program of the Census Bureau which allows individuals to conduct a search of Census records for information to help them establish their age or family relationships when there are no birth registration records, family Bible records, baptismal records, affidavits of birth by the attending physician or midwife or other means of establishing their status. Personal information from the Census Records of 1930 and later is confidential and only available upon the written request of the person to whom it relates or, for a proper purpose, to a legal representative of an estate. Information regarding a child who has not reached legal age may be obtained upon the written request of either parent.
