Definition
Federal trial courts located in judicial districts throughout the United States which have jurisdiction in all criminal and civil matters related to violations of federal statutes and the U.S. Constitution. There is at least one judicial district in each state and frequently more than one. Decisions by the federal district courts are subject to appeal to the Federal Court of Appeals.
