Definition
An inherited disease that has a high rate of occurrence among Jewish children which involves neurological deterioration that is characterized by mental and physical retardation, blindness, cherry red spots, spasticity, convulsions and enlargement of the head. The disease typically begins when the child is four to six months of age.
