Definition
A disorder of the eye in which the optic axes cannot be directed to the same object. Strabismus may involve one or both of the eyes which are drawn inward toward the nose, outward toward the ears, upward or downward, and can result from reduced visual acuity, unequal ocular muscle tone or an oculomotor nerve lesion.
