Definition
An acute infectious disease that is characterized by definite lesions in the groups of lymph nodules that are found in the ileum near its junction with the colon, in the glands in the intestinal area, and in the spleen accompanied by fever, headache and abdominal pain. The causitive agent is Salmonella typhi which may be transmitted by infected water or milk supplies.
