Eligibility
Total household income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, household must be responsible for paying home energy costs, and the household must contain at least one US citizen or qualified non-citizen. Eligible households with a child under age 6, an adult over age 60, or a household member with a documented disability will receive a larger benefit amount.

Service Description
Copies of power, heat and water bills; proof of all income received by all household members in the month prior to the month of the application;
proof of any eligible medical expenses; child support and alimony paid in the month prior to the month of app
Application/Referral Process
Apply online or if unable call to schedule an appointment. For the traditional HEAT program, applications take 6-8 weeks to process. Clients who have received a 48 hour shutoff notice may qualify to have their applications expedited. Also, a blank application may be sent through the mail.
Description

Provides year-round gas and electricity utility payment assistance to residents of Salt Lake and Tooele Counties. It also provides limited water assistance depending on funding availability and city of residence. Crisis funding for energy and water assistance may be available for households facing shut-off. Applicants may qualify for a heating benefit once per season which runs from October 1- September 30 each year.
