Eligibility
Individuals with physical or developmental disabilities who can demonstrate that a service dog will enhance independence or quality of life. Applicants applying for a service dog must be at least 18 years old. Applicants applying for a skilled companion dog must be at least 5 years old.
Fees
No cost for a service dog. The individual pays for travel expenses to and from the regional office in California.

Application/Referral Process
Apply online. The application process lasts 3 - 6 months before an applicant can be accepted into the program. If denied you will be provided rational and alternative resources. If accepted, the candidate moves to the waiting list, which can last 6 months - 2.5 years. The top of the waitlist applicant must make a visit to the regional office in California for a 2-week group class.
