Definition
Programs that provide opportunities for high school students from foreign countries to live with an approved family in the U.S. and attend high school for one school semester or one school year in exchange for American students living and attending school in their country during the same period of time. Also included educational exchange programs for undergraduate and graduate students in colleges and universities and student exchanges that take place over the summer holidays and involve home stays but no study.
