Definition
Programs that provide nonstructural measures such as plywood, sandbags and other water deviation devices, window boarding services and other forms of assistance that are designed to temporarily secure property in preparation for an impending disaster such as a mudslide, flood, hurricane or tornado. Also included are programs that rehabilitate areas burned by a major fire to prevent future damage to ecosystems, watersheds, homes, businesses, municipal water supplies, and other facilities from water runoff, mudslides, sedimentation and other types of problems that may occur as the result of a storm.
