Individuals who specialize in preparing and applying permanent markings, color and cosmetic products to the face or body for aesthetic or clinical purposes. They may also remove unwanted markings. Included are tattoo artists who apply permanent (or temporary) designs to customer's skin using electric needles and chemical dyes; and permanent cosmetic technicians who use the art of tattooing to insert pigments into the dermal layer of the skin which add lip color, fill out eyebrows, create permanent eyeliner, simulate beauty marks, camouflage scars and other blemishes and create other changes that are waterproof and virtually permanent.
