Definition
Programs that pay for or provide portable electronic devices designed for vehicle and pedestrian positioning and navigation which have integrated global positioning system (GPS) receivers and digital maps as well as turn-by-turn guidance and voice instructions. Some systems offer more advanced features such as multimodal navigation enabling users to plan routes taking all potential means of transportation into consideration, local search features (e.g., cheap gas, closest coffee, movie times), enhanced traffic information and automatic map and data updates sent wirelessly.
