Optometric Technicians/Assistants

Individuals who assist optometrists in providing patient care, administering examinations and treatments and performing office administrative functions. They assist in testing patients' vision, provide frame styling services and instruct patients in contact lens handling. They administer vision therapy programs prescribed by the optometrist. Some technicians do laboratory work, modify conventional contact lenses, keep inventories of clinical materials and maintain instruments. Some have office management responsibilities which may include patient billing and record keeping.
