Take It Back Programs

Retailers, manufacturers and other businesses that operate programs that "take back" many of the household goods they sell when they have reached the end of their useful lives, and ensure that they are reused, recycled or disposed of properly. The programs provide a convenient and safe way for residents to return to participating establishments household items that should not go in the trash; and serve as an alternative to residential recycling and household hazardous waste collection sites. In many areas the programs are a partnership between the private sector business community and the local municipality: the businesses operate the program and the municipality promotes it.
