Single family homes, condominiums or apartments for rent that were constructed or modified to meet the comfort and safety needs of people with physical or other disabilities as well as support their ability to live independently. Accessibility features include wheelchair access throughout (ramps, lifts, wide doors); light switches, electrical outlets, thermostats and other environmental controls in accessible locations; kitchen cabinets with pull-out shelves; kitchen counters at several heights to accommodate different tasks and postures; and grab bars and hand rails, particularly in bathrooms and along stairways. Some residences may be equipped with alert/alarm systems for people with hearing or visual impairments.
