Programs that provide interpreters who accompany deaf and hard of hearing students to their classes in order to convey the instructor's lecture material by silently forming the words on their lips for speech reading or by utilizing sign language. School based interpreters may also voice for deaf students, upon request; may be available to accompany students to conferences along with teachers or advisors, to public meetings or to other school-related events; and may be utilized by faculty and staff who, themselves, are deaf or hard of hearing.
