Pneumonia

An inflammation of the lungs that is caused primarily by bacteria, viruses and chemical irritants. Symptoms include chills, high fever, pain in the chest, cough, and purulent and often bloody sputum. Mortality is high unless the individual is treated with an appropriate antibiotic.
