Definition
An acute, subacute or chronic disease of the connective tissue of unknown etiology that is characterized by a build-up of tissue fluid, dermatitis and inflammation of the muscles. Symptoms include fever, malaise, general weakness and weakness of the pelvic and shoulder girdle muscles; skin and mucosal lesions are often present.
