Definition
Programs that help nonprofit organizations, small businesses and other groups develop and implement strategies which assure that there is an effective flow of information between management and staff and/or the organization and its membership. An effective internal communications plan includes a balance of formal and informal communication methods (e.g., newsletters, Intranet pages, e-mail, voicemail, management memos, position statements, presentations and special events); and the right mix of information, dialogue, training, learning, and motivation (reward, recognition, evaluation) to ensure that all employees are aware of the organization's mission, goals, objectives and activities and their own role in ensuring success.
