Programs that help nonprofit organizations, small businesses and other groups that may be experiencing environmental challenges, reductions in funding, organizational problems or other issues determine whether strategic restructuring is a viable option to help them better achieve their mission. Strategic restructuring refers to a continuum of partnership relationships such as mergers, joint ventures and administrative consolidations, which allow multiple organizations to leverage their combined talents and resources by working together in a competitive environment. Strategic restructuring differs from strategic alliances in that they involve a change in the locus of control for at least a portion of one or more of the organizations involved.
