Definition
A health insurance program established by the Federal Employees Health Benefits Act which provides health benefits coverage for most federal employees and members of their families. Health benefits coverage generally stops 31 days after the last day of the pay period in which separation from federal service occurs, but insured employees may retain coverage if they retire on an immediate annuity either for disability or after at least 12 years of creditable service.
