Primal Scream Therapy

Programs that specialize in providing therapeutic interventions that are based on theories developed by Arthur Janov that hold that all neuroses and psychoses result from extremely early, infantile trauma including birth and circumcision. The infant, being unable to vent the emotion resulting from the trauma, is forced to repress them resulting in a gradual withdrawal from the ability to appropriately express painful emotions. The task of the therapist is to uncover the early traumas and assist the client to fully express the long-repressed tears, anger and screams of protest.
