Definition
Programs that issue permits which authorize Native Americans to possess eagle feathers and parts (or those from regulated migratory birds) for religious and cultural purposes such as healing, marriage and naming ceremonies. Applications for a permit require certification that the requesting individual is an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe and has authorization to participate in a particular tribal religious ceremony.
